MyEtherWallet (MEW) supports a variety of methods for users to create an Ethereum wallet directly on our platform.
When getting started on MEW, users can create a wallet using the following:
The MEW wallet app
MEW wallet is our official mobile app and is the best option for the security and safekeeping of your information. You'll be able to use the MEW wallet independently on your mobile device, and together with MEW web for additional features.
To download the MEW wallet app, go ahead and click HERE. Also, check out the following articles for guidance with creating a wallet on the MEW wallet app:

Enkrypt, MEW's multi-chain web3 browser wallet
Enkrypt is our browser extension wallet, available for Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Edge, Opera, and Safari. It supports assets on Ethereum and Polkadot ecosystems, works with all Ethereum and Polkadot DApps, and puts you in full control of your crypto..
Download the extension at Enkrypt.com and see the following guides for setup:
Already have a hardware wallet like Trezor or Ledger, a browser wallet like Enkrypt or MetaMask, or a mobile wallet with WalletConnect or WalletLink?
You can access that wallet with MEW web. You will be viewing the addresses on your existing wallet using the MEW interface, rather than creating a new wallet. For assistance with access, please refer to the ‘How to Access your Wallet on MEW web’ article.
Get a hardware wallet compatible with MEW
First, visit our website at www.myetherwallet.com then click ‘Create a new wallet’
Click ‘Buy Hardware wallet’
Choose which hardware wallet you want to get started with to be redirected to their website. You’ll then complete the purchase there.
Congrats! You will be able to access your hardware wallet with MEW once the device itself has been set up successfully.
Software
These are not recommended ways to create and access your wallet. We highly suggest you access MEW offline when using these options.
Before we continue, a few words of caution:
Never share this information with anyone. This information gives complete and permanent access to your wallet.
Do not keep this information on a device connected to the internet. Hackers can and will find it in your hard drive.
Choose strong passwords and write everything down, in multiple locations.
We cannot recover this information for you.
For more information, go ahead and check out the ‘MEW says ‘Not Recommended’ when I Access my Wallet.. Why?’ article.
Keystore/JSON
Need more information about Keystore files? Go ahead and check out our ‘What is a Keystore/JSON file’ article.
Head to our website at www.myetherwallet.com and click 'Create a New wallet'
Click on the 'Software' option
Choose 'Keystore file'
Enter a strong password, and write it down on paper.
Download your JSON File, preferably to a USB device.
Now you’re done, and ready to access your wallet!
To print a paper wallet and/or find your private key, take a look at the ‘Finding your Private key on MEW web’ article.
Mnemonic Phrase (also known as a Recovery phrase)
Need more information about Mnemonic phrases? See the ‘What is a Recovery phrase’ article for guidance.
Head to www.myetherwallet.com and click 'Create a new wallet'
Click 'Software' then choose the 'Mnemonic Phrase’ option.
Choose a 12 or 24-word phrase, and WRITE IT DOWN!
There is an option for an extra word here, for added security. Choosing to include an extra word keeps your phrase more secure, but it limits the accessibility of your phrase with other wallets. Other wallets may not allow for an extra word, making your phrase incompatible.
We cannot recover or reset your phrase or extra word for you. Write it down!
Click on 'I wrote them down' once you're written it down
Now pass a quick test, and click verify when you’re done!
You're all set! Go ahead and access your new Ethereum wallet.
