Exploring DApps on iOS

MEW wallet allows users to seamlessly explore and interact with DApps through several methods:

  • Integrated DApps found in the 'Earn' tab

  • Using the built-in browser in the app

  • By connecting to MEW web via QR code

  • By connecting to web3 sites in the desktop browser that support MEW wallet via QR code

To explore integrated DApps:

  1. First, make sure that you’re logged into the app.

    1. Need Help accessing your wallet? Please see the 'Restore/ Import your wallet on MEW wallet using Recovery phrase' article for more information.

  2. When logged in, go ahead and click the ‘Earn’ icon, which looks like a mini plant.

  3. You should now be seeing the integrated DApps page. Go ahead and select which DApp you want to use to get started.

Interacting with DApps using built-in browser:

  1. First, make sure that you’re logged into your MEW wallet account and looking at the dashboard.

  2. Click on the ‘Browse’ icon located on the bottom menu of the screen. (It looks like a tiny compass)

  3. To access the DApp using bookmarks:

    1. Click on one of the bookmarked DApps that you want to interact with. (The following example shows an Aave connection).

    2. You’ll now be seeing a notification letting you know that you’ll be redirected to the third-party website. Go ahead and click 'Confirm'.

    3. Read over the steps for connecting your wallet then click on ‘Got it’.

    4. Perfect! You should now be on the DApp. Some web3 sites will have an ‘app’ button to redirect you to the actual DApp. If so, read over their redirection notice then click ‘Agree’.

    5. If you’re not already connected, click to connect your wallet to the DApp then click on the wallet that you’re using.

    6. Nice! You’re now connected to the DApp! Feel free to use it to your needs.

  4. To access DApps by manually entering the URL:

    1. Enter the website name or URL for the DApp you’re trying to access then select it. (The following example shows Uniswap)

    2. Read over the steps for connecting your wallet then click on ‘Got it’.

    3. Nice! You’ve successfully accessed the DApp!

  5. If you have more than one account with MEW wallet, click on the small colorful card on the top left to show a dropdown of all accounts. From there, select the account to connect with.

To close out the DApp and head back to the DApp browser, go ahead and click on the ‘X’ in the upper right corner. After doing that, the app will close out and now appear in the ‘Recents’ area under the search field.

Users can also delete apps from the recent by clicking on the small ‘x’ in the upper right-hand corner.

Connecting to DApps on MEW web:

For iOS users who want to interact with the DApps found on MEW web, you have the ability to connect your MEW wallet app via QR code.

The DApps available on web are ETH Blocks, ENS Manager and Stake on ETH2

To Connect:

  1. Visit our website at www.myetherwallet.com and then click ‘Access my wallet’

  2. Click on 'MEW wallet' and the QR code will show up

  3. Open your MEW wallet app and click on the camera icon found in the upper right-hand corner.

  4. When it opens, point it to the QR code on our website. The QR code will scan which should automatically connect you to your dashboard.

  5. Click on ‘DApps’ found on the left-hand side of your MEW Dashboard

  6. You should now be seeing the featured DApps page

Connecting to External web DApps:

MEW also allows users to connect to external web DApps (web3 sites on desktop browser) that support MEW as a connection option (via QR code).

Here are some examples of web DApps that support connection with MEW wallet app:

Matic wallet

DApp Radar

ENS

Unstoppable Domains

& many more!

To Connect MEW wallet:

  1. Find the ‘connect wallet’ button on the DApp your using and locate the ‘MEW wallet’ option

  2. Open the QR code scanner on your MEW wallet app

    1. See Steps 3 and 4 above

  3. When it opens, point it to the QR code provided by the DApp’s website. The QR code will then scan, which automatically connects your wallet to the site.

    1. If you’re having trouble scanning the QR code, make sure that both devices have network data and/or Wifi.

Best Practices:

  1. Make sure that the DApp is legitimate and reputable

  2. Always be aware of the approvals and permissions that you accept for DApps

  3. Double-check URL’s and certificates of websites. Make sure that they are trusted and secure.
