How to Send a Transaction with MEW Portfolio

Steps for sending a transaction on MEW

MyEtherWallet (MEW) makes it easy to send a transaction. All you need is a wallet, the address you are sending to, and a little ETH (or the relevant network token) for gas.

All transactions on Ethereum require ETH for gas. Other networks may require gas in their native token. Read more about gas here: What is Gas?

To send a transaction on MEW Portfolio:

  1. Visit our website at myetherwallet.com and click 'Connect wallet'

  2. Pick your access method then complete the process for access. Note that you can either connect to the Ethereum (which will also include all EVM networks) or Bitcoin networks.

  3. When you get to your MEW dashboard, select ‘Send' which is located on the right side of the screen.

    1. You can send tokens from networks beyond Ethereum — just switch to the relevant network via the top right corner dropdown before clicking 'Send'. Check out our guide on changing networks if you need help.

  4. Find the type of currency you’d like to send in the drop-down menu, and enter the amount and the address you’d like to send it to.

    1. Make sure to double and triple-check the address you’re sending to! We cannot recover funds sent to the wrong address.

    2. If you don’t see the token you’d like to send, you may need to double-check that the token is on this wallet address. If so, you may just need to add the token as a Custom token on MEW.

  5. Choose your transaction speed from the options provided

  6. Once you're done, click 'Confirm and send' to confirm the transaction details

    1. If you’re using the MEW Mobile app or a hardware wallet, be sure to confirm the transaction on your device as well.

  7. Once your transaction is posted, you can find it in activity history, found by clicking the bell icon in the top right corner of the dashboard, and copy your transaction hash for your records. You can also check your transaction hash on ethVM to make sure everything went through properly.
