Steps and Resources for buying and/or selling crypto using Moonpay, Simplex, and Link by Stripe on MEW wallet Android

At MEW, our priority will always be to provide users with a seamless experience when interacting with the ever-evolving Ethereum blockchain. Buy and sell crypto safely and securely, without leaving the MEW wallet app, with the help of our integrated partners MoonPay, Simplex, and Coinbase Pay. Supported cryptocurrencies include ETH, BNB and MATIC.

MoonPay

MoonPay allows users to:

  • Buy ETH directly on the MEW wallet app for lower fees

  • Buy crypto using a bank account

  • Sell your assets and deposit the funds directly into a bank account

  • Buy crypto on other networks, such as MATIC and BNB

  • Buy USDT and USDC (after connecting to MEW web via QR code)

Buying ETH using MoonPay

Please note: MoonPay has a 10,000 USD/Euro limit per purchase as well as a monthly purchase limit of 50,000 USD/Euro.

  1. Open your MEW wallet app and click on the Swap icon (looks like a curved arrow).

  2. Click on ‘Buy Ether’ and then select the account that you want to buy the ETH for (if you have multiple accounts).

  3. First, choose the currency that you're using to purchase the ETH with, then select the amount you want to buy. Click ‘Next’ when you’re done.

    1. You can also enter a custom amount.

  4. On the ‘Select Provider’ screen, go ahead and click on ‘Buy with MoonPay’.

  5. You will be redirected to MoonPay’s website where you’ll need to enter your email address and verify your account.

    1. If this is your first time using MoonPay, you will need to create an account and take the time to go through the KYC procedure. Please see their Help Center for more information.

    2. If you’ve already signed up, go ahead and enter the email address you signed up with to log in.

  6. For new MoonPay users: Follow the prompts on MoonPay to complete your account. (Existing users can skip to the next step).

  7. Choose your payment method from the options provided in the dropdown menu.

    1. Options include credit/debit cards and bank accounts. Purchases with a bank account offer the lowest fees.

    2. Purchases with bank account may not be supported in all countries. If you don't see the bank account option, please use a different method.

  8. Review your transaction details and make sure to read and agree to MoonPay’s Terms of Use.

  9. Click ‘Buy now’ when you’re done and allow time for the transaction to process. This may take a few minutes.

    1. Additional verification may be required per the request of your bank. Make sure to complete that as well.

  10. Good job! You should now be seeing the above screen which shows the current status of your transaction. When done, select ‘Click to view on blockchain explorer’ for final confirmation!

Congrats, you’ve just successfully bought ETH using MoonPay! Feel free to head back to your MEW wallet dashboard to see your updated balance.

Buy USDT and USDC using MoonPay

Please keep in mind that if you want to buy USDT and USDC tokens, they will need to be purchased by connecting your wallet to MEW web via QR code.

Buy MATIC (Polygon) and BNB (on BSC) using Moonpay

Users can now buy MATIC and BNB directly from the MEW wallet app from inside of the specific networks.

For guidance with changing networks on the MEW wallet app, or an overview of all that those networks offer, go ahead and check out the following articles:

In order to buy Matic or BNB:

  1. Open the MEW wallet app and change your network to the network you want to buy coins from (Polygon or Binance Smart Chain) then click on the 'Swap' icon.

    1. See the guides provided above for assistance

  2. Click on ‘Buy MATIC’ or ‘Buy BNB’ (depending on which network you’re on).

  3. Select the account where coins should be deposited, if you have multiple accounts.

  4. Click on the drop-down menu to pick the currency that you’ll be purchasing with.

  5. Pick the amount that you want to buy then click on ‘Buy now’.

    1. You can also click ‘Custom’ to enter a specific amount up to $20,000 USD.

  6. In the ‘Select Provider’ screen, go ahead and click on ‘Buy with MoonPay’.

  7. You will be redirected to MoonPay’s website where you’ll need to enter your email address and verify your account

    1. If this is your first time using MoonPay, you will need to create an account and go through the KYC procedure. Please see their Help Center for more information.

  8. Choose your payment method from the options provided in the dropdown menu.

    1. Options include credit/debit cards and bank accounts. Purchases with a bank account offer the lowest fees.

    2. Purchases with bank account may not be supported in all countries. If you don't see the bank account option, please use a different method.

  9. Review your transaction details and make sure to read and agree to MoonPay’s Terms of Use.

  10. Click ‘Buy now’ when you’re done and allow time for the transaction to process. This may take a few minutes.

    1. Additional verification may be required per the request of your bank. Make sure to complete that as well.

  11. Good job! You’ve just successfully purchased MATIC or BNB using MoonPay! Feel free to head back to your MEW wallet dashboard to see your updated balance. Make sure that you're still on the appropriate network.

Sell crypto (ETH, USDT, USDC) on MoonPay

Please note: MoonPay has a 10,000 USD/Euro limit per sale, as well as a monthly purchase limit of 20,000 USD/Euro.

  1. Open the MEW wallet app and click on the Swap icon

  2. In the Swap screen, go ahead and select ‘Sell crypto’.

  3. You’ll then be redirected to MoonPay where you’ll need to choose which currency you wish to sell by expanding the drop-down menu.

    1. Currently, users have the option to sell ETH, USDT, and USDC. More options will be available in the near future.

  4. Enter the amount that you want to sell then click ‘Continue’.

  5. Type in your email address to create a MoonPay account, if you haven't already.

    1. If you’ve already signed up, go ahead and enter the email address you signed up with to log in.

  6. For new MoonPay users: Follow the prompts on MoonPay to finish creating your account. (Existing users can skip to the next step).

  7. Read over MoonPay’s Privacy Policy then click ‘Continue’.

  8. Select the bank in which you wish to deposit the funds into. Try searching the name in the search bar if you can't find it in the list provided.

  9. Enter in your online banking credentials to connect your bank account to MoonPay. Click ‘Submit’ when you’re done.

  10. Select the account that the deposit is for then click ‘Continue’. Click it again after you see that the accounts have been linked.

    1. You also may be provided with the option to save the sign-in information for future use.

  11. Review your sell order and make sure everything is correct. If so, go ahead and press ‘Continue’.

  12. Enter your Social Security number in order to verify your bank account.

    1. Please note: The SSN is stored securely and used ONLY to verify your bank account.

  13. Take a final review of your sale order then click ‘Sell now’ if everything looks good.

  14. IMPORTANT! In order to complete this deposit, users must send their crypto to the address provided by MoonPay. Go ahead and click ‘View Deposit details’ to see the address for the deposit.

  15. Copy the address provided then navigate back to the MEW wallet app to complete the transaction.

    1. Please note: Make sure that when sending the transaction, you’re entering the same amount in the original sell request, AND the ‘TO’ address is entered correctly. Any errors can delay the process and/or cause a requote for your sale.

  16. Once the transaction is complete on the MEW wallet end, go ahead and navigate back to the MoonPay window and click ‘I’ve sent my crypto’.

  17. Great job! You should now be seeing the following screen which is tracking the progress of your sale. Once done, Moonpay will start the process of depositing the funds into your bank account.

Congrats! You just sold some of your crypto directly from your MEW wallet app! Please allow 3-4 business days for the funds to arrive in your bank account.

Simplex

Our partners at Simplex allow MEW users to securely buy crypto with a credit/debit card directly from their MEW wallet app.

Some things to keep in mind before buying:

  • There is a $100 minimum per ETH purchase.

  • The daily limit of ETH that you can buy is $20,000.

  • The monthly limit of ETH that you can buy is $50,000.

Buying ETH using Simplex

  1. Open the MEW wallet app then click on the ‘Swap’ icon (curved arrow) found at the bottom of your wallet’s home screen.

  2. Click ‘Buy Ether’ then select which account the ETH deposit is for (if you have more than one account).

  3. Choose the currency that you’ll be purchasing with and select the amount of ETH that you want to buy from the options.

    1. You can also enter a custom amount if the amount of ETH you want to buy isn’t shown.

  4. Go ahead and click 'Next' then choose 'Simplex' for the provider.

  5. You'll then be redirected to Simplex. There you would need to enter your billing address along with your personal details to complete the purchase. Once done, click ‘Pay Now’.

  6. Congratulations, you just bought ETH using MEW wallet! To double-check the purchase, feel free to look back at your account to make sure it went through.

Buy BNB (BSC) or MATIC (Polygon) using Simplex

Simplex also allows users to buy MATIC and BNB directly from the MEW wallet app. This can be done by first changing your network then following the steps provided below.

To buy BNB or MATIC:

  1. Open the MEW wallet app and change your network to the network you want to buy coins from (Polygon or Binance Smart Chain)

    1. See the guides provided above for assistance.

  2. After changing networks, click on the Swap icon (curved arrow).

  3. Click on ‘Buy MATIC’ or ‘Buy BNB’, depending on which network you’re on (example showing MATIC)

  4. Select the account that the coins are for if you have multiple accounts.

  5. First, click on the drop-down menu to pick the currency that you’ll be purchasing with then select the amount that you want to buy. Select ‘Buy now’ when you're done.

    1. You can also click ‘Custom’ to enter a specific amount up to $20,000 USD.

  6. In the ‘select provider’ screen, go ahead and click on ‘Buy with Simplex’

  7. You will then be redirected to Simplex where you would need to choose your payment method, billing address, and personal details to complete the purchase. Once you're done filling that out, click ‘Pay Now’.

  8. Congratulations, you just bought BNB or MATIC using Simplex! To double-check the purchase, feel free to look back at your account to make sure it went through. Make sure that you’re using the correct network.

Buy ETH with Link by Stripe

1. Open the MEW wallet app, click on the Swap tab on the bottom, select Buy Ether, and the account into which you want to deposit the ETH.

2. Choose the currency with which you are purchasing and the amount. Select Custom if none of the pre-set amounts work for you.

3. Choose Link by Stripe from the provider list.

4. If you already have a Link account that you have used elsewhere online, you should be able to log in and buy crypto with one click. Otherwise, go through the process of creating a Link account by verifying your device and entering your payment information. After that, next time you purchase crypto with Link by Stripe in MEW, it'll only take seconds.
