Centralized crypto exchanges (like Binance, Coinbase, and Gemini), as well as traditional financial platforms that let you purchase crypto (like Robinhood) can be an easy way to onboard into crypto, but you shouldn't rely on them to be your main crypto wallet.

Moving your funds to a non-custodial wallet like the Enkrypt multichain browser wallet gives you full control over your crypto. When you have your wallet keys, no one can block your transactions or freeze your account, and you won't be affected by big exchanges losing liquidity or going bankrupt.

Here's how to transfer your crypto from Binance to Enkrypt browser extension wallet.

  • If you are sending from another centralized exchange or platform like Coinbase, Robinhood, Gemini, OKX, Kraken, KuCoin, Huobi, etc, the process will be similar. Start by creating a new Enkrypt wallet, then check the supported networks and cryptocurrencies, copy your new wallet address(es), and follow your exchange's guide for withdrawing crypto to a different wallet.

1. Create a new Enkrypt wallet, if you don't already have one.

2. Set up networks and copy your Enkrypt address(es) for receiving crypto.

To avoid issues with moving your funds, you need to make sure that you are only sending those coins that will be supported in Enkrypt.

Luckily, Enkrypt supports multiple networks and currencies, including Ethereum (ETH) and all ERC-20 tokens, Bitcoin (BTC), Polkadot (DOT), Polygon (MATIC), and BNB Smart Chain (BNB). For more details see What cryptocurrencies/tokens does MEW support.

After you have installed Enkrypt and created a wallet, you will see a default list of networks on the left. To add more networks to this list, click Manage networks on the lower left. For more information, see Connecting to networks and DApps.

To find your address for receiving crypto in your Enkrypt wallet, select the appropriate network for the coins you are sending, and then click on the Deposit button. You will see a pop-up from which you can copy the address or scan the QR code with a mobile device.

  • Enkrypt allows users to generate multiple accounts on the same network, so if you have more than one account, make sure to copy the address for the correct one. For managing accounts on Enkrypt, see Add and Import accounts.

3. Withdraw crypto from Binance.

Go to your Binance account on mobile or desktop, and then follow their guide for withdrawing crypto to a different wallet.

We recommend sending a small amount first to make sure that everything goes as expected.

Binance allows users to send crypto on several networks. It's important to select the correct network for your coins.

  • For Ethereum (ETH) and all ERC20 tokens, choose the ERC20 network. Some popular ERC20 tokens include DAI, USDC, and USDT. Need help figuring out whether your token is based on Ethereum? See this article.

  • For BNB that is on the BNB Smart Chain (formerly Binance Smart Chain/BSC), choose the BEP20 network. Note that BNB Beacon Chain/BEP2 network is NOT supported in Enkrypt.

  • For Bitcoin choose the BTC network. Enkrypt will also support MATIC, DOT, and ETC natively. Make sure you select the network that corresponds to the token you are sending.

  • Some coins that are NOT supported in Enkrypt include Cardano (ADA), Tron (TRX) and TRC20, Dogecoin (DOGE), and Ripple (XRP). This is not an exhaustive list of unsupported currencies.

4. Check your balances in Enkrypt.

After your transaction is sent, you should be able to view its status in the Binance app/website, or copy the transaction hash to view it in a blockchain explorer. Once it goes through, your balance will be updated in Enkrypt on the account that you sent the tokens to.
