Steps and resources for buying and selling crypto on MEW wallet iOS

At MEW, our priority will always be to provide users with a seamless experience when interacting with the ever-evolving Ethereum blockchain. Buy and sell crypto safely and securely, without leaving the MEW wallet app, with the help of our integrated partners MoonPay, Simplex, and Coinbase Onramp. Supported cryptocurrencies include ETH and POL (MATIC).

MoonPay

MoonPay allows users to:

  • Buy ETH directly on the MEW wallet app for lower fees

  • Buy crypto using a Bank account

  • Sell your assets deposit the funds directly into a bank account

  • Buy and sell crypto on other networks, such as POL (MATIC) on Polygon

  • Buy USDT and USDC (after connecting to MEW web via QR code)

Buy ETH with MoonPay

Please note: MoonPay has a 10,000 USD/Euro limit per purchase as well as a monthly purchase limit of 50,000 USD/Euro.

  1. Open your MEW wallet and click on the ‘Swap’ icon located at the bottom of your dashboard.

  2. On the Swap menu, go ahead and choose ‘Buy Ether’ and select the account that the ETH deposit is for (if you have multiple accounts).

  3. First, choose the currency that you want to buy the crypto with then the amount that you’re spending.

    1. You can also choose ‘Custom amount’ if you had a specific amount in mind.

  4. In the ‘Select provider’ window, go ahead and click ‘Moonpay’.

  5. You will then be redirected to MoonPay’s website where you’ll need to enter your email address to start creating an account.

    1. If you’ve already signed up, go ahead and enter the email address you signed up with to log in.

  6. For new MoonPay users: Follow the prompts on MoonPay to complete your account. (Existing users can skip to the next step).

  7. Choose your payment method from the options provided in the dropdown menu.

    1. Options include Apple Pay, credit/debit cards and bank accounts. Purchases with a bank account offer the lowest fees.

    2. Purchases with bank accounts may not be supported in all countries. If you don't see the bank account option, please use a different method.

  8. Review your transaction details and make sure to read over and agree to MoonPay’s Terms of Use.

  9. Click ‘Buy now’ when you’re done and allow time for the transaction to process. This may take a few minutes.

    1. Additional verification may be required per the request of your bank.

  10. Good job! You should now be seeing the following screen which shows the stage that your transaction is currently in for processing. When done, select ‘Click to view on blockchain explorer’ for final confirmation!

    1. A confirmation email will also be sent to the email address on file for your reference.

Congrats! You’ve just successfully bought ETH using MoonPay! Feel free to head back to your MEW wallet dashboard to see your updated balance.

Buy POL (MATIC)

To buy POL (MATIC) on MEW wallet iOS, first switch the network in the upper left corner to Polygon, go to the Swap tab, select Buy POL (formerly MATIC) and proceed in the same way as described in the section above for buying ETH.

Buy USDC and USDT

Please keep in mind that if you want to buy the above-mentioned tokens, they will need to be purchased by connecting your wallet to MEW web via QR code.

When you’ve connected to MEW web, you can go forward with buying either USDT or USDC. For assistance with this, go ahead and check out the following article:

Sell crypto (ETH, USDT, USDC) via MoonPay

Please note: MoonPay has a 10,000 USD/Euro limit per sale as well as a monthly purchase limit of 20,000 USD/Euro.

  1. Open the MEW wallet app and click on the ‘Swap’ icon.

  2. Select ‘Sell crypto’ from the Swap screen menu then choose the account that you want to sell your crypto from (if you have multiple accounts).

  3. You’ll then be redirected to MoonPay where you first need to choose the crypto that you’re selling.

    1. Currently, users only have the option to sell ETH, USDT, and USDC. More options will be available in the near future.

  4. Enter the amount that you’re trying to sell then click on ‘Continue’.

  5. Go ahead and type in your email address to create a MoonPay account, if you haven't already.

    1. If you’ve already created an account, go ahead and enter the email address you signed up with to log in.

  6. For new MoonPay users: Follow the prompts on MoonPay to complete your account. (Existing users can skip to the next step).

  7. Read over MoonPay’s Privacy Policy then click ‘Continue’.

  8. Select the bank to which you wish to deposit the funds. Try searching the name in the search bar if you can't find it in the list provided.

  9. Enter in your online banking credentials to connect your bank account to MoonPay. Click ‘Submit’ when you’re done.

  10. Select the account for the deposit then click ‘Continue’. Click it again after you see that the accounts have been linked.

  11. Review your sell order and make sure everything looks correct. If good, go ahead and click on ‘Sell now’.

  12. IMPORTANT! In order to complete this deposit, users must send their crypto to the address provided by MoonPay. Go ahead and click ‘View Deposit details’ to see the address for the deposit.

  13. Copy the address provided then navigate back to the MEW wallet app to complete the transaction.

    1. Please note: Make sure that when sending the transaction, you’re entering the same amount in the original sell request AND the ‘TO’ address is entered correctly. Any errors can delay the process and/or cause a requote for your sale.

  14. Once the transaction is complete on the MEW wallet end, go ahead and navigate back to the MoonPay window and click ‘I’ve sent my crypto’.

  15. Great job! You should now be seeing the following screen which is tracking the progress of your sale. Once done, Moonpay will start the process of depositing the funds into your bank account.

Congrats! You just sold some of your crypto directly from your MEW wallet app! Please allow 3-4 business days for the funds to arrive in your account.

Simplex

Our partners at Simplex allow MEW users to securely buy crypto with a credit/ debit card directly from their MEW wallet app.

Some things to keep in mind before buying:

  • There is a $100 minimum per ETH purchase.

  • The daily limit of ETH that you can buy is $20,000.

  • The monthly limit of ETH that you can buy is $50,000.

Buy crypto with Simplex

  1. Open the MEW wallet app.

  2. Click on the ‘Swap’ icon (looks like a curved arrow).

  3. Click ‘Buy Ether’ then select which account the ETH deposit is for (if you have more than one account).

  4. Choose the currency that you’ll be purchasing with then click the amount of ETH that you want to buy from the options.

    1. You can also enter a custom amount if the amount of ETH you want to buy isn’t shown.

  5. Choose 'Simplex' from providers.

6. You'll be redirected to the Simplex page where you can buy with ApplePay or debit card. You will need to enter your billing address and personal information to complete the purchase.

Congratulations! You just bought ETH using Simplex! To double-check the purchase, feel free to look back at your account to make sure it went through.

Buy ETH with Link by Stripe

1. Open the MEW wallet app, click on the Swap tab on the bottom, select Buy Ether, and the account into which you want to deposit the ETH.

2. Choose the currency with which you are purchasing and the amount. Select Custom if none of the pre-set amounts work for you.

3. Choose Link by Stripe from the provider list.

4. If you already have a Link account that you have used elsewhere online, you should be able to log in and buy crypto with one click. Otherwise, go through the process of creating a Link account by verifying your device and entering your payment information. After that, next time you purchase crypto with Link by Stripe in MEW, it'll only take seconds.
