Refer to this list of common errors and solutions.

  1. ‘Invalid Address’

    • MEW supports transactions on the Ethereum blockchain and other networks that are EVM-compatible.

    • If you’re trying to send a token that has launched mainnet (a blockchain that's different from Ethereum), you will likely need to send this crypto to an Ethereum address at an exchange like Binance to make the swap to mainnet.

    • Some supported chains may have different address formats than Ethereum's "0x....". If you are trying to send to an address in the format required by an exchange and it's not working, please reach out to us at support@myetherwallet.com for further assistance.

  2. ‘Not Checksummed’

    • The checksum version of your address is the version that includes both capital and lowercase letters, for accuracy. The address itself is not different.

    • You can find this version by searching your address on a block explorer like ethVM.

  3. ‘Out of Gas’ or ‘Insufficient funds’

    • All transactions on the Ethereum blockchain require ETH for the fuel to make transactions happen. If you need more ETH, you can buy it directly in MEW Portfolio, MEW Mobile app, or Enkrypt browser wallet.

    • This gas fee is not set or collected by MEW. It goes to the validators that keep the blockchain running and secure, and is necessary for the function of the network. See our 'What is gas' article for more information about the network fee.

  4. Unintelligible Error / Other
