Geographic Restrictions for MEW

Written by Katya Michaels

MEW Mobile, Enkrypt browser wallet, and MEW Portfolio on web will be unable to service certain geographic regions beginning December 1, 2025. Please see the full list of affected regions below. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Your funds are safe. Remember that MEW Mobile and Enkrypt are self-custodial wallets, so you can always access your crypto in a different wallet by using your recovery phrase.

If you are affected and your address is restricted, please make sure to migrate your funds to another wallet as soon as possible using your secret recovery phrase. After December 1, 2025 you will still have access to your recovery phrase in both MEW Mobile app and Enkrypt and will still be able to migrate to a different wallet, but you will not be able to send or receive transactions. See the following guide for locating your recovery phrase in MEW or Enkrypt: https://help.myetherwallet.com/en/articles/13180822-how-to-find-your-recovery-phrase

If you are using MEW Portfolio on web to connect your mobile, browser, or hardware wallet and manage your funds, please find another platform where you can manage those assets.

If you see a restriction in your MEW or Enkrypt wallet, but are not located in one of the jurisdictions below, please make sure that you are not using a third-party, like a proxy or datacenter IP, to connect. Keep in mind that anything that obscures your IP address, like a virtual network or private relay, can be considered a third-party provider.

If you need to move your assets to another address, the fastest way to do so is by importing your MEW recovery phrase into a wallet that supports Ethereum and other networks where you hold cryptocurrency, and send from that wallet. Be cautious when downloading apps and never enter your recovery phrase directly on a website.

If you are trying to withdraw ETH that you staked through MEW and are seeing a restriction without using third-party proxy services, please send the following information to support@myetherwallet.com so we can investigate:

  • which staking service you used in MEW

  • your public wallet address

  • your IP address (if you don't know your IP address, use this link and copy the string that is populated in the search box: https://www.ip2location.com/demo)

Ineligible jurisdictions:

  • Afghanistan

  • Belarus

  • Cuba

  • Democratic Republic of Korea

  • Iran

  • Libya

  • Myanmar

  • Somalia

  • South Sudan

  • Sudan

  • Syria
